ASR is developing the centre of the Meerhoven district in Eindhoven. Meerrijk is the last element of Meerhoven, and also the long-expected vivid centre of this new residential area. The plan consists of roughly 700 urban dwellings and appartments and a large shopping centre with several facilities. Below the deck is a large parking garage. The plan is surrounded by the green and watery Meerland park, spanning roughly 148 acres. Or as ASR puts it: 'The town centre in front of your door, the park at your feet'.
The development of Meerrijk consists of several phases. Parallel to that, the Virtual Scale Model has been updated a couple of times to reflect the design changes. A series of Artist's Impresions and animations have been created using the Virtual Scale Model as well. In addition to the current plan parts designed by wUrck and De Zwarte Hond, the plan parts designed by Diederendirrix and Bedaux de Brouwer will be added when they are ready. During the development phase, the application of the Virtual Scale Model has appointed a number of design issues. This has led to some timely improvements of the design.
From the start of the project Eric Haan, Senior Marketing Manager Housing at ASR Vastgoed, knew that he wanted something special for the presentation of Meerrijk. In April 2010, the Virtual Scale Model of Meerrijk was presented to the public during the Regionale Nieuwbouwbeurs in the Evoluon building in Eindhoven. In a dedicated cinema, the roughly 5000 visitors of the event could get acquainted with Meerrijk in stereoscopic 3D.
